Boston Manor traveled all the way from the UK for their headline tour across North America and Richmond, VA had the pleasure of being one of the few cities to host the band. On May 11, 2025, which also happened to be Mother’s Day, fans of the band showed up to Richmond Music Hall and filled the venue in anticipation for a great night of music.

Opening up the show were artists’ Ellis, Spaced, and Farmer’s Wife. Ellis is a dream pop artist from Hamilton, Ontario, who’s chilling vocals echoed through the crowd priming the audience for the next band. Buffalo, New York based band, Spaced, switched things up and brought a new energy to the evening with a different style of music compared to the rest of the show as they were the only hardcore band on the bill. Their energy fueled the audience in a way that got the whole venue riled up. Farmer’s Wife led the transition from hardcore to what they describe themselves as bubble grunge. Originating from Austin, Texas, their music does not fit into what one may normally expect when thinking of the south. Their set was a perfect way to bridge all of the different music played throughout the night before Boston Manor took the stage.

Boston Manor was formed in 2013 in Blackpool, England and quickly gained traction in the punk scene. Two years after the band’s formation, they got signed to Pure Noise Records. Throughout their career, they have put out multiple projects and have toured extensively across the UK and Europe as well as the US.

On Sunday night, lead singer Henry Cox reminisced about the first time they came to the US back in 2016 stating he “couldn’t believe they got out of London,” and then continued on with telling the crowd about the first time they played in Richmond. He shared with the audience about how they stayed with a nice couple who had way too many cats. Boston Manor has visited Richmond many times over the years and even said one of his favorite shows was at Canal Club, another music venue in Richmond, when he lost his voice and their set turned into a Boston Manor karaoke party. Throughout the evening, between all of the cheering and applause, he continued to express his love for Richmond and the warm welcome they always received when coming through the river city.

The whole show was a celebration of different genres coming together, proving that there is room for everyone in the scene, while also introducing people to new music they may not have known about, creating a chance for Boston Manor fans to discover their new favorite artists.
