King Howe
Indie Pop
Mallrat, Dora Jar, Sega Bodega
King Howe, the indie-folk project led by Canberra’s Ally Hocking Howe, weaves together jazz, folk, and electronic textures with live-looping and improvisation. Debuting with a regional Australia tour in December 2025, she celebrates the growing success of her single orange, which has been resonating with folk and electronic fans alike. One reviewer noted that King Howe can “hit you with a dreamy barrage of plucked strings and, in a matter of seconds, shift to an 808 groove that still preserves the integrity of her artistic vision.”
The unconventional King Howe live band consists of an array of talented jazz musicians, all wearing their indie-folk hats. This includes two bassists, two drummers, a harpist, a standing cellist, a banjo player, and Ally herself - on violin, vocals, and production.
