Release Round Up - October
Written by: Catherine Fleck
It’s the beginning of October and I wanted to share some upcoming releases that I can’t wait to listen to.Â

First up is Blossoms sixth studio album “Songs From The Wedding Cake”. I have been loving the marketing and social media content posted by the band from Stockport, UK promoting some of the singles - for example a behind the scenes look at the music video for “Husband” starring Jack O’Connell (love you Cook, IYKYK) where he’s cooking a cottage pie. Yes, it’s as odd as it sounds but works perfectly for Blossoms aesthetic and vibe. But the star-studded line up doesn’t stop there, Maya Jama joins them for “Meet Me In Love” and Callum Scott Howells for “Jokes About Divorce”. All the singles so far have the classic indie-rock Blossoms sound and I’m so excited for the release on the 2nd of October!

Next up is Troye Sivan’s “She’s The Best”, his fourth studio album arriving on the 9th of October with the single of the same name already being out and well received. Having been a fan of Troye since “Fun” and “Happy Little Pill” in 2014 it’s exciting to see the shift from those tracks to hits like “Rush” and “Got Me Started” and now to this new release. The music video for the other released track “Party” which samples Madonna’s “Music” once again features choreography from Sergio Reis whose funky, contemporary style has become synonymous with Troye’s dance breaks.Â

Last but definitely not least is Fontaines D.C.'s hotly anticipated Dopamine Chamber. Due for release on the 16th of October, the fifth studio album for the Irish rock band has managed to sell out all the U.K. tour dates this side of Christmas with only one song, “Marianne”, on the album being released at the time. The second single “Tongue” was released on the 30th of September with not much else being teased or let slip in the run up to the full release. Staying relatively quiet on socials and only posting the tracklist or information about “Tongue” on the day it’s made public fits well with their laid-back, reserved persona’s and builds tension for the full album drop.
