Bea Miller Reintroduces Herself With 'Mr Peaked in High School'
Written by: Bethany Grace Ivan

Bea Miller fully captured our attention when she competed on X Factor in 2012. Her career soon took center stage when she released Young Blood and Fire and Gold off of her debut album, Not An Apology.
Feel Something began to dig deeper into her artistry and gained a huge momentum on TikTok.
And now, she’s stepped back into the spotlight – only this time, she is finally reintroducing herself, on her own terms.
Mr. Peaked in High School unapologetically explores a new chapter of her musical and personal identity.
She draws back the curtain, giving us a glimpse of her own experience as a teenager – an experience that she missed out on – dedicating her time to building a career as breakout star.
“When I was younger, I was very angry that I didn’t get to go to school with my friends, that I had to pay the bills, and work everyday,” she said. e
“I was so sure that it would always be that way and was sold that that’s who I was and who I would always be. I think I was writing through that frame of mind a lot of the time in that perspective.
Writing her new album became a different creative process for Miller, giving her the freedom to explore the messy and chaotic highs and lows of adulthood, while revisiting her roots and embracing the many versions of herself, all starting with who she was at 15.
“Exploring your identity when you're 15 -16, changes by the day and changes much more frequently than it does when you’re an adult. I’ve had a lot of time to reflect on my own life.”
As she looks back at her career, through all the obstacles that she has faced and the success that she has experienced, she is proud of the journey of who she is and every version of who she was.
“I look back at that time in a very bittersweet way. It was young me working hard and it was stressful to figure out my personal identity while being in some sort of spotlight. Because of it, I do feel like I took a lot of inspiration from that time and I learned a lot. I think it really helped me grow into the person I am today,” she smiles.
“Ultimately, I’m happy with the way everything has turned out. I really love this project and I don’t know if I would have written it without having gone through the things that I have experienced and I don’t know if I would be the person that I am.”
Mr. Peaked in High School is out on all platforms now!
